“Christine consistently delivers a superior weekly singing workshop for members of our community group, Just Singin’, a registered Scottish charity. Experience and expertise are worn lightly as she empowers individuals to find their own voices through her energetic, supportive, inclusive and personal teaching style. Membership numbers continue to soar as a result of Just Singin’ retaining Christine as musical director for the group.

Community Singing Groups and Choirs

Everyone can sing! Christine is a highly regarded song tutor. Above all, her aim is to make it an interesting, fun and welcoming learning environment where friendship and community walk hand- in- hand with songs and singing. Since the mid nineties, Christine and others have worked to set up community choirs as a way of encouraging people back to singing. Successfully developing  projects with committees Christine moved on to kick-starting new projects as Founding Musical Director of Sangstream, Sangschule, Angus Folk, Breakish Singers, Burns Quoir and JustSinginBirnam, with whom she worked for over twelve years.

As well as teaching her own arrangements of a wide range of material including Scots and traditional song, Christine, as folklorist, (MLitt Elphinstone Institute, University of Aberdeen) gives contextual information about the song and its background as well working on the expressive skills of singers from other angles, through her ADVS training as voiceworker in London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.  As well as fulfilling invitations as guest tutor with choirs Christine now offers longer courses, including those with Gaelic song and Alexander Technique specialists. www.singingfordelight.co.uk

Project based and Scratch Festival choirs Christine has run include:
The Coastal Choir
Steenhive Big Sing
Coldstream Border Gathering

Christine has also taught at Alasdair Fraser’s Valley of the Moon fiddle school and at Sabhal Mor Ostaig Short Courses. In many festivals and teaching weekends she has brought people to sing together in performance, including working with Fiona J Mackenzie and also Christine Primrose in the Gaelic world, and a host of freelancers from the festival circuit.
